ACN Statement Derogatory, Misleading – Presidential Aide

The political adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak, has described the utterances of chieftains of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), in their reactions to the explosion that rocked? the Catholic Church building in Madalla, Niger State,? on December 25, 2100 as “derogatory and misleading”.

Gulak made the statement during a press briefing in his Central Area office, Abuja, on Thursday. He expressed dismay at the blame game and the criticism of the president by people who should know better.

“If people like Lai Mohammed with their experience, what they profess to have and the nationalists they claim to be can make derogatory and misleading statements about the government and the nation then it is unfortunate. I say this because many would expect someone like that, the national publicity secretary of a party, to know more.

“He and those like him have to acknowledge the fact that the president and national security operatives are working round the clock to see that these challenges are tackled. We can only hope and pray that with the new strategy the security operatives are adopting, these things will be things of the past. I call on all Nigerians to exhibit the needed patience and give the government the needed support to benefit from the transformation agenda.”

The presidential spokesman was reacting to statements by the Action Congress of Nigeria, which had called on the president to “sit up” in his bid to ensure lives and property of Nigerians “or resign” in the face of overwhelming insecurity and national threat.
