9 Shot Dead For Protesting Against Subsidy Removal – NLC Chairman

As Nigerians took to the streets in their thousands to protest against the removal of subsidy by the federal government, Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Omar Abdulwaheed says nine persons have been shot dead by the Police.

Speaking during a protest march held in Abuja, the NLC chairman decried the excesses of the police which he said has reduced the nation to lawlessness.

He explained that three persons were shot dead in Lagos and six in other parts of the country.

However, LEADERSHIP can confirm that a youth was shot dead by the police in Ogba area of Agege, Lagos.

It was gathered that the youth, Ademola Aderinde was Shot dead by the DPO of Pen Cinema Police Station, Victor Okafor. The vehicle registration number is used is RS101LA.

Residents of Abuja turned out en masse on Monday to join in the NLC-led protest.

Also present at the rally were serving members of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Suleiman and Hon. Bamidele Opayemi as well as former rep, Dino Melaye.

Others present were Charles Oputa a.k.a Charlyboy, the national publicity secretary of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, Osita Okechukwu among others.
