Overnight Comrades Are Nigeria’s Problem – Obi

Anambra State governor, Mr. Peter Obi, has said that “failed politicians- turned -overnight comrades are the ones worsening the problem of Nigeria, despite the efforts of the present administration to address them.”

Obi, in an evening broadcast yesterday to commend the effort of President Jonathan in reducing the pump price of petrol from N141 to N97, said that the failed politicians sought to derail the progress of the country by hijacking the peaceful protest of the labour unions.

The governor commended the members of the organised labour in reciprocating the efforts of the federal government and urged them to work for the interest of the country.

Part of the broadcast reads; “In spite of the fact that the president and the governors had agreed on, and are still committed to complete deregulation of the downstream sector of the petroleum industry, the president has graciously reduced the pump price of PMS.”

Obi said that by doing so, the president has shown uncommon qualities of statesmanship and leadership by carrying the people along through taking immediate steps to ameliorate the initial pains of the exercise.

The Governor thanked the people of Anambra State and the entire South East for their maturity throughout the period of the strike and said, “you overwhelmingly voted for him (Jonathan) in the last presidential election, you are therefore faced with the task of supporting him the more to ensure that the mandate given him remains inviolate.”
