It is almost a general consensus that singer Darey Art Alade possesses the exclusive preserve of being called Nigeria’s R N B king.

Last Sunday in Lagos, his counterparts, friends and media executives gathered to fete and celebrate Darey’s achievements and consistency in the Nigerian music territory.

The occasion held at the SS Lounge, Victoria Island, just three days before the singer’s birthday. Organised by the City People Group, Darey was presented a glass plaque by broadcaster Bisi Olatilo on behalf of organisers.

Explaining the rationale behind the action, publisher of City People magazine, Seye Kehinde said, “the essence of the event is to encourage and appreciate the king of R N B for making Nigeria proud and for being a good ambassador of the country”.

Darey has won numerous awards both locally and internationally for his musical efforts. His third album, DoubleDarey, is scheduled for a late February release. The double CD album will house a total of fourteen songs. A total of five singles were released last year off the coming album.

Sunday’s get together was hosted at different intervals by comedians Tee A, Ali Baba and Gbenga Adeyinka in addition to Lagos based radio OAP and singer, Tosyn Bucknor.

The brief event had in attendance guests like; Ayo Animashaun, Audu Makori, Djinee, TY Mix, Emeka Ike, Femi Adeyinka, Mtrill, Waje, Jedi, Julius Agwu, Kingsley James, Yaw, Bisoye Fagade, Kelvin Orifa, Kunle Afolayan and Banky W.

A number of radio Djs also attended while Waje performed her ‘For a minute’ single to the delight of guests.
