Violent Protests Against Subsidy Removal In Niger Criminal – Aliyu

Niger State Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has said that the last Wednesday’s violent protest against removal of fuel subsidy which left many properties destroyed was criminal and premeditated.

Aliyu who, yesterday, inspected both private and public properties destroyed in Minna said that the destruction was planned by some misguided people who have no connection with the labour.

“The destruction of the properties was criminally organised by some misguided people and had nothing to do with the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress protests.

“All the affected buildings and vehicles , Murtala Amusement park,? including the roundabouts as well as the street lights and the outdoor wide screen viewing centres that were damaged have nothing to do with the issues in the strike”, he said.

He emphasised that the destruction caused by the protest was well organized and therefore urged security agencies charged with the responsibilities of investigating the crisis, to do a thorough job to bring the culprits to face the wrath of the law.

“In fact, the major concern of the government is to find out how to assist?? those that were affected, so that they can get on with their lives.
