Politicians, Activists In Bayelsa Disagree Over Supreme Court Ruling

Politicians and civil right activists in Bayelsa State are divided over the ruling of the Supreme Court that led to the removal of the Governor of the State, Timipre Sylva and the swearing-in of the Speaker of House of Assembly Nestor Binabo as acting governor the National Vice Chairman of the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP), South-South, Livinus Opuakpa and the State Secretary of the Civil Liberty Organisation (CLO) Comrade Morris Alagoa, described the Supreme Court ruling as a blessing to the people and all political parties in the state.

The Chairman of the Conference of Nigeria’s Political Party (CNPP) in the state, Sunday Frank-Oputu, said though the decision of the Court was respected and accepted, it has only provided more opportunity for the removed Governor to pursue his case over the legality of the January victory during the primary held by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and which he won.
