IPMAN Divided Over Kerosene Allocation

Intrigues and counter accusation among the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) are causing a mild rift between Western Zone of IPMAN and its national body.

While the national chairman told the House of Representatives that its members have not been getting Kerosene from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the chairman of IPMAN, WesternZone said, kerosene is being supplied in the West.

Oil marketers under the aegis of Integrity Marketers Forum has cautioned against utterances capable of damaging the image of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) by some of its own members.

Oil marketers under the aegis of Integrity Marketers Forum thus cautioned against utterances that could damage the image of the group.

The group stated this while reacting to media reports credited to the Western Zonal chairman of IPMAN, Mr. Olumide Ogunmade, who disputed claims by the IPMAN National President, Abdulkadir Aminu, that marketers did not receive kerosene allocation from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The IPMAN president had told the House of Representatives committee probing the subsidy regime that marketers did not receive kerosene allocation from the NNPC, a situation he claimed had led to the high cost of the product across the country.

But a statement issued in Abuja by theNational Publicity Secretary of the group, Emmanuel Joe, expressed dismay that a knowledgeable Zonal Chairman like Ogunmade could descend low to perpetuate such falsehood.

The marketers who accused the Zone of deliberate attempt to disintegrate the national body of IPMAN for some trucks of kerosene as reward, asked why kerosene was still scarce and selling above a N100 a liter in the Zone if Ogunmade’s claims were true.

While expressing dismay over Ogunmade’s interview which he granted in Lagos, the forum alleged that it was aware of the Zone’s boast that they had been assured of securing PPPRA’s? import permit by the NNPC’s management.
