Senator Florence Ita Giwa has said that she will go nude alongside millions of Efik women of Cross River State, if the Efik throne is ‘desecrated’ by anybody? again. Giwa’s threat was coming on the heels of the ongoing dispute over the stool of the Obong of Calabar.
Florence Ita Giwa, told our correspondent at the palace of the Obong of calabar that Efik women were solidly in support of the Obong that was recently sacked by the Court. She said: “You can see the women have been here since the beginning of this unfortunate incident.
“What is happening is unfair, I’m not questioning the integrity of the Judiciary, the point is that the issue of? the throne of the Efik is, I can say clearly, an explicit responsibility of the Efik people to choose whom their King is.”
She explained, that the Efik have no reason to question the dignity and integrity of the Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi v. She also said that there was? no reason to question the process by which the selection of the Obong was done, as according to her, it was transparent.
