Nollywood Idols’ Unending Rift

Nollywood is one of the biggest movie industries in the world, having ranked third in the world in terms of the movies it produces in a year. While many are working tirelessly to remain relevant in the industry, some are busy intensifying the feud between their fellow artistes in the industry.?

The long face-off between the two beautiful and delectable actresses of the Nigerian movie screen seem not to ever have an end as both of them don’t see eye to eye.

Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde have been at loggerheads for some time now over who rules among the two in the make believe business.

Both actresses have contributed immensely to the growth of not only Nollywood, but the Nigeria Entertainment Industry at large. They have also produced songs that have made waves. (Though one has been rumoured to have only sold one copy of her album)
The age-long feud resurfaced during the production of Chineze Anyaene’s multiple award winning movies, “Ïje: The Journey.”

The rivalry, we gathered almost ruined the production of the high budget movie.
Information has it that, while the movie was being shot in Los-Angeles, it was a big deal getting the two A-list actresses to work together as a team.

It was gathered that but for the timely and ceaseless intervention of the cast and the production crew, none of them is ready to play a second fiddle to the other.

“At a point, we stopped shooting because they wouldn’t submit to each other. Chineze had a hard time persuading them to return to set” our sources hinted.

In the movie, Genevieve played the role of Chioma, the lead character, while Omotola played the role of Anya, her sister.

In a recent interview, Omotola was asked how she is managing the issue of rivalry in the industry; she said in life, you get along with certain people; you may just not get along with your contemporaries which according to her, is a fact of life. Personally, I am not very close to so many people not because of work or rivalry, but because I am just removed from the everyday life they live.

Omosexy and Genevieve should try and settle their differences; they still have a lot to do together, for the good of the industry.

We love you all…
