CBN Approves 16 Micro Finance Banks For Kebbi

The Kebbi government has secured approval from the CBN to establish 16 additional branches of micro-finance banks in some local government areas of the state. ? ??

Alhaji Bello Tuga, the Commissioner for Works and Housing, disclosed this on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi in an interview with newsmen.

He said the apex bank gave approval for the establishment of the new branches of micro finance banks prior to his redeployment from Ministry of Finance to his new post.??

Tuga said the 16 new branches would be located in rural areas to boost economic activities.? ??

He said the objective of establishing micro finance banks in rural areas were to provide support to small and medium scale entrepreneurs.

The commissioner said the new banks would commence operations this year.????

Tuga lauded the introduction of e-payment by the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.

He said the system had not only helped to reduce financial mismanagement, but had also promoted the culture of probity and accountability in financial transactions.?
