FG To Fight Dearth Of Professionals In Education

The federal government is set to fight the dearth of professionals, especially teachers in the education sector due to the brain drain syndrome which has affected the country and in effect has resulted to the exodus for greener pastures.

This was revealed yesterday by the minister of education, Prof Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa’I, during the 58th National Council on Education (NCE) meeting holding in Abuja.

The minister said, “A number of common wealth member countries have been deeply concerned at the dearth of professionals, especially in the education and health sectors as a result of the targeted recruitment into foreign countries.”

The minister who acknowledged that the mobility of professionals across borders has great value for professional development, said it should however not be at the detriment of the nations education system which already has a protocol aiming ‘at balancing the rights of teachers.
