Rainstorm Wreaks Havoc In Ogun

Property worth several millions of naira were destroyed during a rainstorm that occurred on Thursday evening in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.? Governor Ibikunle Amosun has, however, described the incident as very unfortunate.

The heavy rainstorm, which left many residents of the ancient city homeless, affected many areas? such as Iporo Ake, Itoko, Okejigbo, Ijaye, Iyana-Mortuary, Olorunsogo, Abiola way and Lantoro.

24 hours after the incident, which did not claim any life, the governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun visited the affected areas and? saw rooftops of not less than? five public primary schools blown off.

The governor also visited the area where electric poles of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) were not spared by the rainstorm, which also uprooted trees in some areas. Amosun particularly expressed shock at? Bode-Ijaiye Primary School,? describing the incident as unfortunate.

He expressed his administration’s readiness to assist the victims of the rainstorm through assistance from the federal government.
