Armed Robbers Cart Away Workers’ Salary In Bauchi

Armed Robbers in the early hours of Tuesday, stormed the account department of Katagum Local Government Secretariat in Bauchi State and carted away the March salary of workers worth millions of naira.

Confirming the incident to our correspondent on phone, the Deputy Caretaker chairman of the local government Alhaji Kamisu Abdu said that the gunmen suspected to be armed bandits raided the local government secretariat with dangerous weapons at about 2am on Tuesday and made away with money meant for staff salaries.

The deputy chairman who described the incident as unfortunate and detestable added that no casualties were recorded as a result of the robbery.

He called on the security agents operating in the local government to intensify efforts so as to avert such recurrence in the future.

When contacted, the police public Relations officer (PPRO) of the Bauchi state command Hassan Muhammad however said they were not aware of the incident but promised to talk to the press after investigation.

The local government staff who were still expecting to collect their March salaries were shocked by the event.??
