I’ll Defend Jonathan – Tukur

The national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bamanga Tukur has said that he will defend? the actions of Preesident Goodluck Jonathan who he says is the leader of the party and must be supported in his governance of the country.

The PDP chairman also said that the superiority of the party must be respected and its laws obeyed because political parties were the basis of governance.

Tukur spoke yesterday while receiving the campaign team of Senator Abba Aji who he defeated in the race for the PDP chairmanship seat in the just concluded.

Tukur said, “We need to support the government and defend its actions. The president is the leader of the party. When we want to disagree, it should only be while discussing and before it becomes law.”

He thanked the Abba Aji and his campaign team for putting up a spirited fight ahead of the convention, and declared that “to compete is to engender excellence. What the party did has deepened democracy. In a family, you always discuss and let the superior argument prevail. You should not entertain a grudge. People think that when you are competing, you are enemies. No, we are brothers and friends.”

Abba Aji ,on his part, said they were there to pledge loyalty and share ideas with the newly elected party chairman, noting that they were one family and that only one person can be chairman at a time.
