Oyo: Number Of Dead Pupils Rises To 8

Five additional students of Divine Wisdom Nursery and Primary School, Egbeda in Oyo State, yesterday lost their lives, bringing the casualty figure to eight the number of those who had died during a motor accident which occurred on Wednesday some kilometers to their school.

LEADERSHIP checks at the hospital revealed that those who were admitted in private hospitals in Ibadan had been brought to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan and doctors are battling to save their lives.

The wife of the state governor, Florence Ajimobi, who rushed to the hospital on hearing the news, organized a short prayer on her arrival at UCH. She promised to give maximum assistance to all the pupils who were admitted at the hospital

The Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Mr. O. Bobade, assured that the hospital would give the pupils the best of its services.

Three students lost their lives immediately during the accident which occurred a short distance to their school on Wednesday, while about 17 others got severe burns after their bus caught fire. The bus, according to a source, was driven by a mechanic /driver who was employed by the school authorities some months ago.

The proprietor of the school, Mrs. Oke Ejemujta said that she was not disposed to speak to the press chat but expressed the hope that most of the students would be discharged very soon.
