N660bn Fraud: We Are Ready To Dump Alaibe’s Audit Report On Sylva Tenure, If… – CLO

The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) yesterday expressed readiness to question the audit report of the Timi Alaibe led committee that indicted the administration of Timipre Sylva of N660billion fraud in Bayelsa State, if the former governor would come public with his account of stewardship and state of finances of the state when he was in the office.

The committee which was set up by the governor of the state, Mr. Seriake Dickson, to audit the financial books of the state during Sylva’s administration had indicted the former governor of financial recklessness accusing him of squandering over N660billion and accumulating over N207billion debt.

The CLO yesterday in a statement signed by its Vice-Chairman, Mr. Flint Williams-Odonmini, stated that, though the indictment as contained in the audit report raised a moral question on the involvement of Timi Alaibe as chairman due to the existing? rivalry with Timipre Sylva, it was not enough for Sylva to dismiss the report as a witch-hunt.

According to the CLO, the group was ready to dismiss the audit report if the former governor is ready to give account of his stewardship after rebuffing series of calls made during his administration by civil society groups for the financial position of the state.
