‘ Violence Is Alien To Our Culture’

Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State has decried the spate of violence in the country, describing the ugly trend as? alien to our culture.

The governor who stated this in Lokoja during the official launching of the new identity card designed for civil servants in the state, posited that the exercise had become? imperative in view of the prevailing insecurity in the country so as to identify the people working in a particular environment in the state to avoid infiltration by? external bodies.

He pointed out that the present government in the state would provide conducive? environment and working tools? for its workers, to enhance their performance and productivity, disclosing that? he had already approved a computer acquisition programme for civil servants in the state.

The governor further declared that henceforth, it was mandatory for all civil servants in the State to wear the new identity card as part of the official dressing code for proper identification.

He lamented that the state which hitherto used to be very peaceful, was currently being confronted with security challenges like?? bomb threats and other crimes, and enjoined the people to report any act which might be detrimental to the safety of lives and property to the appropriate quarters.

The Head of Service, Dr. Moses Atakpa had earlier in his remarks, explained that the new identity card was designed? to eradicate ghost worker syndrome and prevent incessant screening? of civil servants, which had hitherto placed a huge burden on the finance of the state.
