Amosun, Others Pay Tribute To Majekodunmi

Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, yesterday at the Holy Trinity Church (Anglican Communion), Ikereku, Abeokuta joined prominent citizens of Ogun State and Nigeria to bid farewell to the First Republic Minister of Health and foremost obstetrician and gynaecologist, Dr Moses Adekoyejo Majekodunmi.

In his funeral oration, Amosun said that Majekodunmi, the Otun of Egbaland, lived a fulfilled life.

“He was not only an icon of the Majekodunmi clan, but even in death, he remains one of the leading lights of Ogun State,” the governor said.

Amosun said the success story of the top-class private health centre established by the deceased – St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos – was a testimonial to the exceptional entrepreneural skill of the late minister.

“That hospital has continued to be a reference centre in medi-care services not only in Nigeria but the entire west coast of Africa,” Amosun said.

He lauded the contribution of Dr Majekodunmi to the socio-economic development of Egbaland.

In his sermon,? Bishop of Egba Diocese, Revd. E.O. Adekunle, said Dr Majekodunmi was a devoted Christian who trained his children in the way of the Lord.

He said that the late Health Minister served the nation meritoriously and was never accused of corruption.

He urged the present leaders to emulate the virtues of Pa Majekodunmi

Other dignitaries at the ceremony were Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, former governors Olusegun? Agagu of Ondo,? Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun, paramount traditional rulers and members of the Executive Council of Ogun State.

Dr Moses Adekoyejo Majekodunmi was born in 1916 in the Ikereku District of Abeokuta.
