NFF Inaugurates Four Committees To Rebuild Football Administration

?

The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) on Wednesday, in Abuja, inaugurated two standing committees and two ad hoc committees it said would be crucial to the rebuilding process of Nigerian football administration.
The standing committees, which will be in place until 2014, are the NFA Organising Committee and the Media and Publicity Committee.
The seven-member Organising Committee has the NFA First Vice-Chairman, Mr Mike Umeh, as its chairman; Alhaji Salihu Abubakar, as the Vice-Chairman; and Dr Sanusi Mohammed, as Secretary.
Other members of the committee are Mr John Mastoroudes, Alhaji Abubakar Ladan, Alhaji Maigari Joji and Mr Jude Obikwelu.
?
The Media and Publicity Committee is chaired by Mr Emeka Inyama with Mr Ademola Olajire as Secretary.
Other members are Mr Ibikunle Solaja, Malam Ismaila Lere, Mr Yakubu Ibn Mohammed and Ade Ojekere.
The two ad hoc committees are the Committee on Road Map to Sustainable Development in Nigerian Football and the Committee on Reconciliation.
The committee on road map strategy has Alhaji Sani Toro, a former NFA Secretary-General, as its chairman, with Mr Obi Okey as Secretary.
?
Other members are Shehu Dikko, Onochie Anibeze, Mike Enahoro, Simeon Ikya and Charles Ojugbana.
The chairman of the committee on reconciliation is Emeka Inyama, with Ademola Olajire as secretary, while Felix Anyasi-Agwu, Suleiman Kwande and Olaleye Adepoju are the other members.
Inaugurating the committees, the NFA Chairman, Aminu Maigari, said that they would help to speedily rebuild Nigerian football and move it up to international standard.
He charged the Organising Committee with the responsibility of organising smooth matches and competitions in the nation.
?
“This will be through formulation of policies that will guide the respective secretariat staff of the NFA and the league in general organisation,’’ Maigari said.
He urged the members to seek means of ensuring that the stadiums were made safer and more appealing for players and fans to be attracted to the game.
Maigari also said that since football was a media event, the Media and Publicity Committee should ensure adequate publicity to add value to the game.
“The amazing power of the media cannot be over emphasised; it is imperative that the Media and Publicity Committee begin to look for how best to propel our domestic game to the international audience.
“We have to find a way the media will do it in a very big and compelling manner,’’ Maigari said.
The NFA chairman congratulated the members of the committees and advised them to set realistic targets that are both achievable and measurable.
?
“You are to fashion out a comprehensive roadmap in sustainable development of Nigerian football.
“You are also to come up with long-term, short-term and medium-term development programmes for a better management of the game,’’ he said.
Responding, Toro thanked the NFA for the opportunity to serve.
However, he urged contributions from all football stakeholders, saying that all suggestions and recommendations to make the job easier would be welcome.
Inyama said that the Media and Publicity Committee would work to ensure that the NFA had a rancour-free relationship with the media. (NAN)
