The Enugu State Police Command has assured that the Spaniard who was abducted in Enugu by unknown gunmen 15 days ago was still alive.

Public Relations Officer of the command, Ebere Amaraizu gave the assurance while speaking with LEADERSHIP yesterday.
Amaraizu, however, refused to disclose if the kidnappers had demanded for a ransom or not.

The police image maker reinstated that detectives were working hard to ensure that the Spaniard was rescued unhurt.

Amaraizu further noted, “We don’t want to reveal the details of our operation so as not to jeopardise efforts to free him from his captors.?

“Contact? has been established , the man is still alive , there is no cause for alarm, we want to rescue him unhurt, we are working towards his release,” he stated.

It could be recalled that the Spaniard was abducted on April 4, 2012 from his home in Enugu, where he was reportedly working as a doctor.

He was subsequently taken to an unknown destination by the dare devil gunmen.
