The stage is now set for the Local Government elections in Ogun State as the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commssion, OGSIEC yesterday announced July 21, 2012 as the date fixed for the conduct of elections into elective offices for the 20 Local Governments(LG) in the state.
OGSIEC Chairperson, Alhaja Risikat Ogunfemi, made this known in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, in a press briefing attended by registered political parties and civil rights organisations.
Ogunfemi assured that the Commission would organise and conduct “transparent, free, fair and credible” polls into the LGs in line with constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria(FRN) and the Ogun State Electoral Act 2007 as amended.
