NSCDC Nab 6 Suspects With Illegal Petroleum Products

The Delta State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has nabbed six suspects for being in possession of over 13,325 litres of illegal petroleum products.

Briefing newsmen yesterday, State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr. Amos Andekin Musa, said men of the anti-vandalism unit of the command arrested three of the suspects at Kwale junction in Ogwashi-Uku with the illegal products while on patrol without the relevant papers to do so.

He said the products were contained in 51 drums of 200 litres and 13 Jerry cans of 25 litres capacity each, making a total of 10,525 litres loaded in a Mercedez Benz 911 truck with registration? number XB 409 AJL (Anambra).

The NSCDC boss said the other three suspects were arrested separately on April 15, 2012 at Okpanam junction along the Asaba/Benin Highway.

Musa said this second group was conveying the illegal products in 14 drums with total of 2800 litres in a? Ford Cargo truck with number XN 803 BEN (Edo).

The commandant said the suspects would? soon be charged to court.

Also, the commandant has embarked on a familiarisation tour of the local governments in the state and has visited 13 council areas out of the 25 LGAs with a view to instill combat readiness on the officers.
