Drama As Saraki Shows Up At SFU In Lagos

There was drama at the? premises of the Special Fraud Unit(SFU) of the Nigeria Police in Lagos yesterday after former governor of Kwara State and serving senator, Dr Bukola Saraki honoured an invitation to respond to allegations of a N9bn loan scam preferred against him.

Saraki, who was supposed to arrive at the SFU by 10am yesterday, arrived at exactly 11am.

The former governor drove into the premises in black Mercedes Benz Sports Utility Vehicle with Abuja number CH 165 RBC amidst tight security.

Journalists were prevented from having a full view of the embattled senator as his aides who had stormed? the premises before he alighted covered him. Without uttering a word, he rushed into the building to see the Commissioner of Police, Mr.Tunde Ogunsakin.?

Within this period, aides of the governor appealed to journalists not to take photographs of the senator but the pleas fell on deaf ears. Journalists later gathered at the office of the Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO), Mrs. Ngozi Isintume but about two hours later as Saraki exited the building, journalists were locked inside the office of the PPRO by operatives of the SFU to prevent them from taking pictures of Saraki.

As journalists attempted to open the door, one of the policemen at SFU said, “I am a policeman and I was given an order that no journalist should be allowed to come out. Stay in there until Senator Saraki leaves!” Aides of the senator also surrounded his vehicle to cover him from being seen as he rushed into the vehicle and sped off.
