Alleged Child Abuse: Osun May Dethrone Monarch

Osun State governments has concluded arrangement to withdraw the certificate and instrument of office of a prominent traditional ruler, Oba Adebukola Alli, the Alowa of Ilowa in Obokun Local Government Area over alleged child abuse.

LEADERSHIP gathered from the Government House, Osogbo yesterday that the certificate and instrument of office might be withdrawn pending the time the monarch would be arraigned before the court of law.

Oba Alli, is currently standing trial in a case of alleged rape of a 23-year old ex-corps member, Miss Hellen Okpara, who served in his community between 2010 and 2011.

LEADERSHIP also gathered that officials of the State Ministry of Justice are already dusting papers for the arraignment of the monarch over alleged child abuse.

Source revealed to LEADERSHIP that Governor Rauf Aregebsola was said to have frowned at the people that transported school pupils to Osogbo for protest match in favour of the Oba and reportedly mandated his Special Adviser on Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Funmilayo Eso Williams to take appropriate action

against those behind the act.

Similarly,the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Wale Afolabi who was present at the court premises when the pupils were staging the protest was reportedly directed to take appropriate action.

Oba Alli was said to have allegedly sponsored pupils of Kiloru

Community High School, Ilowa to stage a protest at the premises of the State High Court on Wednesday May 2, 2012 over the case of alleged rape leveled against him.

It was learnt that the monarch ferried the pupils to Osogbo from Ilowa in hired commercial buses along with some of his subjects and traditional chiefs in the town for the dastardly act which the state government frowned at and vowed to deal with people behind the act.

LEADERSHIP source revealed that the movement of the pupils who were supposed to be in their classrooms at that moment they were commissioned to stage protest was with the knowledge of the Vice Principal of the school, Mr. P

O. Akinjuyigbe and some members of staff.

Earlier,the Principal of the School, Mr. A A Adedeji has been queried by the State Teaching Service Commission for alleged negligence and dereliction of duty.
