Atiku Challenges Bamanga Tukur On Equity, Internal Democracy

Former vice president Atiku Abubakar has tasked the newly elected National executive committee of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party led by its national chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur to uphold the virtue of the internal party democracy and always ensure equity, fairness and to be just to all its members who may wish to contest election into various elective offices under its platform, describing it as a necessary step for the enhancement of democracy in Nigeria which will redeem the image of the party in the eyes of Nigerians and international communities.

The former vice president stated this yesterday at Mayo Kalare, the country home of the new PDP National chairman in Jadda local government area of Adamawa state, while addressing a crowd of the PDP family including vice president Namadi Sambo, the executive governors of Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Kogi, Niger states and other dignitaries from all walks of life, who stormed the area to witnessd the grand reception organised by the North East zone of the party in honour of Alh. Bamanga Tukur over his recent election as the PDP National Chairman.

According to the former vice president the election of Tukur as the new helmsman of the party cannot come at a better time than now that Nigeria is practicing democracy and facing a lot of challenges of development and consolidation in its democracy.

He charge the new leadership to conduct its affairs in line with democratic principles which will not only redeem the party image but set a new pace for the development of the country.
