As controversy continues to trail the renaming of? University of Lagos? to Moshood Abiola University by President Goodluck Jonathan last week, former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon,? yesterday in Benin said that Jonathan should have consulted before taking such decision.
Gowon who arrived Benin, the Edo State capital on the invitation of Governor Adams Oshiomhole equally stated that Oshiomhole had performed creditably well in infrastructural transformation of the state.
The former military leader? was received at the Benin Airport by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Simon Imuekemhe and Chief of Staff to governor Oshiomhole, Osariodion Ogie.
At the time of Gowon’s arrival Oshiomhole was campaigning at Orhiomwom Local Government Area, as part of his re-election bid.
Speaking on the re-election bid of Governor Oshiomhole, Gowon said that it was left to the residents of Edo State to decide based on what they saw on ground.
He likened Oshiomhole to former two-time state governor, Dr Samuel Ogbemudia, saying they are both action governors.
