Who Wants D’banj Dead?

Last Sunday when the entire nation was thrown into severe mourning mood with the news of the ill-fated Dana Airline that killed over 180 people, I became more saddened when I saw a link to my BB Phone stating, ‘Breaking News: D’banj Shot Dead in US by Unknown Gunmen, Don Jazzy Fingered’.

And the story reads further: Nigerian star singer, D’banj was few hours ago shot dead in the United States of America by unknown gunmen.

We learnt that he was returning from visiting his G.O.O.D Music label boss, Kanye West, at his Atlanta house in Georgia.

A report emanating from top 24hour news channel, CNN, has it that the unidentified gunmen who were numbered about three rounded up D’banj who was driving in a red BMW 2011 edition and shot sporadically in to the car. D’banj was? allegedly rushed to Saint Joseph's Hospital of Atlanta, Georgia where he has said to have died some minutes later as a result of complications from wounds of the gunshots.

The US police have launched investigation into the death of the ‘Mr. Endowed’ crooner and connoisseur.com learnt that his former friend and Mo’Hits co-owner Don Jazzy who was in South Africa as at the time the dastardly act was perpetrated has been invited for interrogation. Kanye West has also been quizzed by the metropolitan police.

It could be recalled that D’banj was with Kanye West for the Paris Fashion Week last month. Some days later, Don Jazzy confirmed via twitter that he and D’banj have parted ways after a series of unnamed misunderstandings.

I promise to feed you with more details on the story as it unfolds.

And my questions are: why on earth would someone in his or her right senses post things like this to people? Is it the person(s) wish to see someone like D’banj who had really worked hard to make name for himself and had equally made this country proud dead? Why should anyone wish such a promising talented young man dead? People’s life should not be joked with in that form.

We are in June and I thought the ‘April-fool’ prank is only meant for April 1 and it expires by 12 noon of that same day.

People should wish our entertainers who are our ambassadors well. They need our prayers to excel and do more in all their chosen endeavours. In a country like Nigeria where armed robbery, prostitution, ritual killings, Kidnapping, suicide bombing, corruption and the list goes on is on the high, we need to pray and encourage our entertainers who are on top of their games to keep doing their good work because they help portray Nigeria in good light.

To whom it may concern (I mean the person or group of persons behind the false story on D’banj’s death) should please desist from such act. It is not a good thing to think about, to say the least, posting it to people.? A lot of those who received the link called me the next day to confirm if it was true or not.

According to some of them, they said the moment they opened the link and read the headline, the first thing that came to their mind was that it was Don Jazzy’s handiwork. And I felt the same way too at first make I no lie considering the saga that led to their breakup and the collapse of Mo’Hits Records.?

Details of the breakup which borders around the ownership of Mo’Hits Records has it that Don jazzy asked D’banj to own up and pay all the debts of Mo’Hits Records since he is publicly declaring that he owns 100 percent of the songs under the Mo’Hits imprints, a source stated.

But that will not warrant Don Jazzy wanting D’banj killed. Thank God it was a lie. People should henceforth desist from posting such links or messages to people.

Long live the Nigeria entertainment industry.

Long live Nigerian entertainers. Do have for yourselves a fun-filled weekend and God bless!!!
