PLSG To Partner With UniJos On ICT, Research And Training

The Plateau State Government?indicated on Thursday it would partner with University of Jos on?Information and Communication Technology (ICT), research works and training.

Pastor Yiljap Abraham, the?Information Commissioner, stated this?in Jos during a courtesy visit to the university as part of his tour of media outfits?in the state.

“We are looking forward to a strong partnership with the university in the areas of ICT, research and training of civil servants for better and quality service delivery.

“Your contribution in research on conflict management and resolution will be of immense importance to the government of Plateau State considering the security challenges the state is facing, “ he said.

He commended the university for its contributions toward a peaceful Plateau?through its?research, workshops and seminars, stating that a closer?partnership would open more doors for?a better and prosperous Plateau.

The commissioner?asked the?university authorities to ensure that students were taught moral values and?patriotism.

He commended the Mass Communication Department for setting up an FM radio station on the campus and pledged to assist the department towards effective information dissemination on government activities.

Responding, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Hayward Mafuyai, said the university was ready to partner?with government on areas bordering on development.

“UniJos is the leading university on conflict resolution and management and we want to?help Plateau and?the Nigerian nation to tackle?security?challenges,'' he said.

Mafuyai appealed to the government to consider the university in contract awards, stressing that the university was capable of handling any contract especially since its?ICT projects and programmes adjudged one of the best?in the country. (NAN)
