Architect Seeks Divorce Over Husband’s Refusal To Allow Her Work

A 28-year-old architect, Mrs Makanjuola Moses, on Monday appealed to an Ikorodu Customary Court to dissolve her three-year-old marriage over her husband’s refusal to allow her work.

Makanjuola, who resides at Ebun Olukumuyi Street, Ijede in Ikorodu, Lagos, told the court that her husband was a selfish man.

She accused her technician husband, Segun Moses, 38, of irresponsibility and did not want her to work.

She told the court: “My husband does not want me to do any work, he wants me to stay at home all the time.

“I packed out of his house since February, so I see no point in still remaining his wife. I am praying for divorce now to enable me to move on with my life’’.

Makanjuola also prayed the court to allow her the custody of their son, who is two-and-a-half years old.

Moses, who resides at Emuren Street, Okeriya in Ikorodu, accepted the claims of his wife and urged the court to grant her wishes.

“When I met her, I told her I don’t want her to do a white collar job so that she can really have time to take care of the family.

“She then accepted to learn fashion designing, but to my surprise, she insisted on working after she had a child and started misbehaving in the house,’’ he told the court.

Moses accused his wife of receiving text messages from different men, saying that was why she packed out of the matrimonial home.

“Please separate us if that is her wish,’’ he said.

The Court President, Mrs Remilekun Adesanya, after hearing both parties adjourned the case till July 24, for possible reconciliation.
