The Traditional Ruler of Eziama Obiato in Mbaitolu Local Government Area of Imo, Chief Dennis Nwaba, was on Thursday kidnapped from his palace.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Vitalis Onugu, the monarch was abducted from his palace by four armed men.
NAN reports that the kidnappers invaded the Eze’s palace about 8:30 a.m. in a Honda civic car.
Onugu said that two men on a bike, who were following the car as they drove off, were shot by the kidnappers.
The PPRO decried the rise of kidnapping in the state, adding that all efforts would be made to apprehend the culprits.
He said that investigations were still going on as no ransom requests had been made by the kidnapers.
