Housewife Pays Husband N70, 000 To Dissolve 6 Months Marriage

A housewife Ramata Bukola of Omuaran, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara on Monday paid N70, 000 compensation to her husband for the dissolution of their marriage six months marriage.

The plaintiff had petitioned an Ilorin Area Court seeking the dissolution of her six months marriage with YusufAbdullahi of Iyana Erinla, Ado-Ekiti, over alleged insincerity.

She said that her husband was not caring enough and always dodged his responsibilities.

“I have no trust and love for him anymore because of his insincerity to our matrimonial home. So I can’t continue with him again,” she said.

Bukola told the court that she was ready to pay any amount as compensation for the six months the defendant had married her.

In his defence, Abdullahi told the court that “jealousy is the problem affecting my wife. I have tried to caution her but she refused to understand my point.”

He, however, asked for N70, 000, as compensation to dissolve the marriage, which the petitioner paid.

The presiding Judge, Mr Yusuf Abdulkareem, therefore, pronounced the marriage as dissolved, warning the separated couple against messages of threats against each other.

He also ordered the plaintiff to observe three months `Iddah’ (Islamic period of waiting before re-marrying).

He noted that any aggrieved party could appeal against the judgment before the Shania Court of Appeal within 30 days.
