Health experts in Benue State have cried out over the rise in homosexual activities in some parts of Benue State, saying that such was aggravating the HIV/AIDs prevalence in the state.
LEADERSHIP findings reveal that in Makurdi, the state capital, gay sport openly thrives in areas such as near Plaza Hotel, along University of Agriculture road at North Bank, and the popular Katsina-Ala Street among others, where men and women, at late hours of the day, park their cars waiting for clients.
Our correspondent further gathered that it had become business as usual at the Otobi Junction in Otukpo LGA of the state, where some gays openly? hang around the area in large numbers at late hours, waiting for clients who take them to brothels for a fee. There are insinuations that gays were making good money at Gboko town of the state.
Executive Secretary of the Benue State AIDS Control Agency, Mrs. Grace Ashi Wende, lamented the rise in same sex activities in the state and said that it was enhancing the rapid spread of HIV/AIDS in the state.
