Tiv Union Holds Convention In US, Lauds Suswam’s Leadership Roles In Benue

The government of Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue state received another boost as the just concluded international convention of the Mutual Union of the Tivs in the United States {MUTA} showered praises on his leadership roles during the past political tussles in the State.

Our Correspondent in the US reports that participants at the just concluded 2012 international convention of the Union in the United States lauded the governor for upholding peace, developments and security of lives and properties in the North Central state.

They also lauded Mr. Gabriel Suswam for the developmental and infrastructural projects that his administration is carrying out in Benue State.
?
Participants at the international convention of the tivs in America pressed further to welcome the way the governor and his team had managed all the political differences between the PDP-led government and the oppositions in the State.

Saying that the Judiciary had done well by adjudicating rightly on the issue of alleged electoral malpractices and certificate forgery made against the governor and his party, the Union urged Mr. Suswam to embrace all his offenders and the oppositions so that they can all join hands together to move the state forward.

They said Suswam has been very matured by ensuring that all the past political arguments in the State did not degenerate to political wars, stressing that other leaders in the State and the country as a whole should emulate his gestures and humility.

In his address at the convention, the Governor, Mr. Gabriel Suswam noted that his government has delievered most of the promises he made while aspiring to become governor in the state.

Mr. Suswam who was represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Honourable David Iorhemba, said that he would ensure that the security to lives and properties of his subjects are given a maximum priority.
?
He also thanked all the people of Benue state both home and abroad for their supports to his administration during the turbulent periods, promising that he will continue to spend all the allocations acrued to the state on developmental and infrastructural projects so as to give the people a meaningful life.

Also, the?Tor Tiv, Chairman of the Benue State Council of Chiefs,?Dr. Alfred Akawe Torkula in his own address at the event, said that it is time for all the indigenes of Benue state in the diaspora to come home and join hands with the present government in order to develop the state.

Dr. Akawe Torkula pressed further that they should not limit their experience in their various fields to the United States alone, stressing that they should also assist their state, Benue in the area of development.

Warning the Union against partisanship, the royal father said that how to move the state forward should be paramount to everybody at the moment.
