The Bayelsa Government on Friday in Yenagoa, advised the five?newly sworn-in?Local Government chairmen in the state, to deliver?the dividends of good governance to the people.

Mr James Dugo, the?Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, said?in a statement?that the council chiefs should?see their appointment as a call to service.

Dugo said that local government authorities had no excuse not to deliver on the restoration agenda of the present administration in the state, since they now received their allocations in full.

He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to opening up rural communities in the state, to even development.

The commissioner advised local council authorities to cue in to Gov. Seriake Dickson's policy of transparency and accountability, and to spend the tax payers’ money on meaningful developmental projects.

It would be recalled that five of the eight local government chiefs in the state were recently sacked by the state government, having being indicted by the Bayelsa House of Assembly for alleged?misconduct, incompetence and corruption.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that the LGAs, indicted by the assembly,?were Brass, Southern Ijaw, Sagbama, Ogbia and Ekeremor.(NAN)
