The Estu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar has been presented with the award of Icon of Peace and Unity by the National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS) Joint Campus Committee of Niger State.
The award according to the release issued by the association yesterday indicated that the award presented by the Chairman, Mayaki Ishaq Mohammad to the Estu Nupe was in recognition of the royal father’s mobilisation effort against illiteracy and societal ills.
According to Mohammad, the Estu Nupe’s contribution in educational development has manifested in his coming out severally to manage crisis in higher institutions of learning in Niger State. Mohammad maintained that the royal father remains the father of all.?
In his remarks, the Estu Nupe thanked the students for recognising his contributions and said that the recognition will urge him to do more.
He advised the students to always promote acts that encourage scholarly works and desist from any form of anti social behaviours that was capable of jeopardising their studies.
Other recipients of the special award were the Niger State Deputy Governor, Hon Ahmed Musa Ibeto and the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Minna, Professor Mohammed Salihu Audu.
