Nigeria Will Qualify – Maigari

Nigeria Football Federation President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari has boasted that the Super Eagles will win the return leg of the 2013 Nations Cup qualifier which she drew 1-1 in Monrovia against the Lone Star in Calabar.

Maigari stated this in Liberia after Eagle’s match weekend while attending a dinner reception organized by Nigerian ambassador to Liberia, Ambassador Nnadozie. The envoy also said she would want to see Nigeria win the return leg and qualify. “I’m sure that by the return leg in Calabar, our team will win handsomely and I hope to be there to help cheer the team to victory”, she said. Maigari assured that the team will not rest on its oars to pick a Nations Cup ticket in October.

Nigeria is poised to reach the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations despite being held 2-2 by Liberia.?

Both teams clash again in Nigeria during October and it would be a shock if the two-time champions fail to maximise home advantage and secure a place among the 16 finalists in South Africa next January. Nigeria has not won the competition for 18 years and failed to reach the 2012 tournament last February after being held at home by Guinea in the final qualifier.

Eagles’ coaches have been fired with alarming regularity and incumbent Stephen Keshi, captain of the 1994 trophy-winning team, has promised to resign if the team fails to oust Liberia, a country 21 places lower on the African rankings.
