Gov. Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe on Thursday inaugurated a 17-member committee for the establishment of a state polytechnic.
Inaugurating the committee in Gombe, Dankwambo said the body’s terms of reference included considering the desirability of converting an existing institution into a temporary site for the polytechnic.
He also said the committee would suggest core programmes for the take-off of the polytechnic, bearing in mind key areas of need for technical and vocational skills.
The governor said the committee would also examine the law establishing polytechnics and suggest amendments.
According to him, the committee is expected to submit its report within one month.
The Chairman of the committee, Prof.Jidere Bala, thanked the governor for the appointment and assured that members would discharge their responsibility to the best of their ability.
