FCTA Worried Over Criminal Activites In Abandoned Buildings

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has expressed worry over increased activities of criminals who take refuge in abandoned buildings to carry out their nefarious activities in Abuja.??

The FCT Minister, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed (CON), expressed this worry while meeting with his security adviser at the weekend in his office.

The minister therefore directed the security agencies in the FCT to as a matter of priority keep close monitoring of all abandoned buildings.

? Senator Mohammed instructed the security agents, especially the FCT Police Command to ensure that abandoned buildings are not used as hideouts from where criminals stay, plan and launch their nefarious activities.

His words: “All security agencies are hereby directed to as matter of urgency, beam their surveillance on the abandoned buildings with a view crack down onthe criminals using such places as haven”.?

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Minister, Muhammad Hazat Sule, the Minister emphasized that criminals must not be allowed to operate within the 8,000 square kilometers of the Federal Capital Territory; stressing that their activities must be nipped in the bud by not letting them use such places as spring boards.
