A 31-year-old woman, Aisha Ya’u, on Thursday sued her ex-husband for abandoning her with a two months old pregnancy. The complainant, told the Kaduna Sharia Court one, Magajin Gari, that Ya’u Saidu, had abandoned her since the divorce. She also complained that she had been without medical care, even though she has been bleeding continuously. “This pregnancy is really giving me problems.
“I’m very sick and I have been bleeding for three days now. “My sister took me to the hospital and the doctor said I don’t have enough blood.’’ She pleaded with the court to compel him to bear the responsibility for her medication and accommodation. Saidu of Mararaba Rido pleaded guilty to the charges and told the Court that he was aware of the pregnancy.
He promised to provide medical care to her, adding “There is a hospital we use to attend in Rido, I will take her there.’’ The presiding officer, Malam Usman Ibrahimm, however, ordered him to take the complainant to “a good hospital'' within Kaduna city.
Ibrahim said: “How can you take her to a local hospital in her condition? You need to take her to where she would get proper medical attention and genuine medication.’’ He ordered a court official to acompany them to the 41hospital and ensure that the complainant is well treated. (NAN)
