Army Orders Illegal Occupants Out Of Jaji

Following the bombing of a church located within the premises of Command and Staff College, Jaji, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Azubike Ihejirika, yesterday, in Asaba asked all illegal civilians on the army lands and barracks nation-wide to quit voluntarily or get booted out as part of a new approach to fight terrorism.

The brazen invasion of some military formations by the Boko Haram sect was given sufficient time at the just concluded Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference held in the Delta State capital with Ihejirika reaffirming the readiness of the Army and other security agencies to put an end to the menace of terrorism once and for all.

Speaking with newsmen after the closing ceremony, the Army Chief said, ‘’I have already informed all the commanders to eject all illegal civilian tenants in all our barracks and they know that, the commanders would not wait for the Chief of Army Staff before taking action along the line.”

Rather from next week, in respect of illegal squatters, they should be sent parking; and any commander that defied the order would face serious sanction.’’

He lamented the absence of fencing for virtually all the barracks due to financial implications.

He expressed the belief that fencing could only reduce the menace of insecurity and noted that next year’s budget was not sufficient to embark on the project nationwide.
