Former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubabakar, has said that the building of worship centres by Niger State government in the three arm zone in Minna would help promote religious harmony.

Abdulsalami who spoke yesterday when the Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu, represented by the Deputy, Hon. Ahmed Musa Ibeto, presented the design of the structure in the three arm zone to him, commended the vision of the government.

He said that the structure would create the avenue for the desired understanding among the adherents of the two major religions of Islam and Christianity. He also suggested that the design should properly done to ensure continuity, especially because of the importance of the project.

The former head of state, however, advised the government to adopt high maintenance culture so that the structure to be built at the three arm zone would not be allowed to be in a dilapidated state.

Earlier, the deputy governor stated that the design has in it a provision for a mosque with 5,000 capacity of worshippers and a church with 4,800 capacity for worshipers as well as a conference centre.

The deputy governor stated that the aim of presenting the design to the former head of state was to draw from his wealth of experience and for the government to receive useful advice on the way to make the project a reality in the proposed three arm zone.
