The Northern States’ Governors Forum (NSGF) has condemned the spate of explosions that rocked parts of the north even as it urged security agencies working to restore normalcy in the region not to despair.
Chairman of the forum and Governor of Niger State, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu stated this, yesterday,? while? reacting to the latest bomb incident? which reportedly occurred at the? Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA) in Piri, Potiskum Local Government of Yobe State on Christmas day.
The statement signed by Governor Aliyu’s Chief Press Secretary, Danladi Ndayebo read in part? “The forum is deeply pained by the fact that the perpetrators chose a holy day (Christmas) to carry out such a dastardly act which left scores of worshippers dead and many others injured,”
The statement urged the security agencies not to be discouraged by the activities of terrorists, and emphasised that the nation would forever remain grateful to the military and other security agencies for the successes recorded so far in the war against terror.
The statement added that the forum has reiterated its commitment to continue to work closely with the federal government in finding a lasting solution to the security challenges confronting the nation.
