2015: Group Demands More Supports For Lamido

Urging him to join the 2015 presidential contest, Youth Alliance for Good Governance and National Unity, a pro-democracy group, has called for more supports for the Governor of Jigawa state, Alhaji Sule Lamido.?
?
The group in a press statement made available to LEADERSHIP also stressed that primordial sentiment should be put away since it has become imperative that a good, honest, dedicated and selfless leader like the governor is what Nigeria needs at this time.
?
The group in the press release that was jointly signed by Comrades Reuben Akpah and Temitope Abu, the National Coordinator and General Secretary respectively, however, commended the leadership of the Jigawa State House of Assembly for its efforts in salvaging the nation, by joining well-meaning Nigerians to call on Alhaji Lamido to join the 2015 presidential race.
?
“The action of the Jigawa State House of Assembly is a testimonial to Alhaji Sule Lamido’s extant leadership qualities and singular fact that he has performed creditably well in transforming the state despite the meagre resources available to the state” the statement reads in part.
?
On the corruption case involving the Police Pension office, the group condemned the judgement delivered by Justice Abubakar Talba, noting that sending the accused person, Mr. John Yakubu Yusuf who allegedly defrauded the Board and pensioners of 27.2billion Naira, to only a two year imprisonment with750,000 naira option of fine, was an abuse on the judiciary.
?
Calling on the National Assembly to urgently commence the process of reviewing the country’s Criminal and Penal Codes to conform to the present reality, the group urged President Goodluck Jonathan-led federal government to be more proactive in the fight against corruption.
