Nigeria Baseball Team Can Be World Leaders — Coach

The Technical Adviser of Nigeria U-12 Baseball team, Gerard Hall has expressed optimism that the starlets can be world beaters if well nurtured considering the quality of talented players in the national camp taking place in Rosebud College, Ibadan. He said Nigeria has a team that can shock the world.

Coach Hall made this known weekend after his second full training session with the team. He said that he has spent years in the game of baseball but was amazed at the immense skills being displayed by the

youths adding that baseball in Nigeria needs little push so that it will be at par with other big baseball nations like USA, Japan and Cuba. “This is a clear indication that Nigeria will in no distant time make

it to the top. I never believed that Nigeria has this level of talents in baseball. Sincerely, what they need is a little push, then they will begin to compete with other top base ball nations” he said.

He specifically picked interest in a player (name withheld due to professional reasons) from baseball club Ilorin stating that it was unusual for a player of that age to be exhibiting advance skills in

the game of baseball despite insufficient training hours. Hall further called on board of Nigeria Baseball and Softball Federation to put in more effort in development of the game in Nigeria because the game has the potentials of taking thousands of youths off the street. “Nigeria has started in a right note. I will advice the baseball authorities here not to allow these talents to waste. What I have seen

here today has shown me that this country has everything it takes to be a great baseball nation” he concluded
