Kaduna based GT2000 basketball coach Michael Oche has revealed the National Women’s League debutants have a mission for coming into the competitive league.

GT2000 which is playing in the Zenith Bank sponsored league for the first time shocked basketball followers in their maiden appearance putting up quality representation and ending the Phase 1 as the 3rd best team in Group A.

The team came 3rd, winning five matches out of seven games and losing only two to trail group phase winners and defending champions, First Deepwater which won all its matches and Sunshine Angels who also lost two games but better on technical grounds.

Oche said he is very impressed with the performance of the girls in the first phase but will not relax until their goal for entering the league is achieved.

“I am happy with the girls and how they finished 3rd against all odds with no one giving them a chance. The team’s secret is determination to succeed and dedication to the game.

We have a goal for coming into the league and will not relax until we achieve. Our goal is to maintain same position in Asaba in the second phase and make it to Lagos for the final 8 playoffs.

Our ultimate goal is to be in the playoffs in our first season and to achieve that we must finish well like we did in Abuja.” He said training for the second phase will be fierce in order to achieve the goal. The second phase jump ball in May 2-12 in Asaba, Delta State.?
