$100,000 Theft: Police Withdraws Charge Against Ex- Air Nigeria Director

The police has withdrawn charges of fraud and stealing against? former Director in charge of Finance of Air Nigeria, Mr John Nnorom.

When the matter resumed for? trial at a Lagos magistrates court sitting at Tinubu? where Nnorom and his company are being tried for allegedly stealing a total 100,000 USD belonging to the airline, the prosecution led by Effiong Asuquo, told the court presided over by A. O. Adedayo, that he was under instruction to withdraw the matter.

“We have instructions to withdraw this matter and ask for it to be struck out, ” said the prosecution counsel.

The development made the magistrate to strike out the case.

The sacked director and his company, Cotrac Global Enterprises, were in July,? 2012 arraigned before the magistrate on a?? two count charge of? obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.

The offences, according to the prosecution are punishable under sections 409 and 312 (1)(2)(3) of the Criminal Code Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

The sacked director and his company were alleged to have fraudulently obtained the sum of 100,000 USD in March 2012 from Air Nigeria, on the pretence of selling the naira equivalent of that to the airline.
