The Ondo State government has said that it did not stop the free
computer education programme in its public schools. The state
government, through the commissioner for information, Ranti Akerele,
said that it implemented a free Microsoft Corporation-based ICT
programme instead. He said that this move saved the state N3 billion in
software requirements alone, which according to him, was given at no
charge to all secondary schools in the state. JT Canada Nigeria
Limited, the company handling the project, had criticised the state
government for allegedly suspending the free computer education
programme.

Its representative in Nigeria, Ade Adelaja, said the project
has been beneficial to over 300 secondary schools in Akure. He also
accused the company of charging each student N300 to N500 per term for
the programme.
