Peekaboo Global Consulting, a marketing communication and
entertainment organisation is set to host the first ever Miss Progress Nigeria
pageant. Tagged ‘Beauties with a goal’, the beauty pageant is designed to find
a young Nigerian lady who would be an ambassador of progress with regards to
culture, tradition and innovation.

Speaking at the unveiling conference for the pageant, the Chief
Executive Officer, Peekaboo Global Consulting, Darlington Abuda said “Miss
Progress Nigeria is affiliated with the Miss Progress International Franchise
which debuted in Italy in 2010. The pageant would run yearly and is opened to
every Nigerian lady from ages 18 to 28 with a strong desire to change their
world”.

The concept

Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw Nuttall, who has been chosen as
a judge for the pageant said, “Progress means moving forward. As a woman, I
feel women should be not just about the outward appearance but also what is in
the inside as well, like community development, looking after someone who is in
need basically providing services as a human being not just being beautiful
that you cannot speak English or provide innovative ideas. So Miss Progress is
all encompassing and who wouldn’t want to be a friend of progress”.

According to Mr. Abuda, requirement for eligibility include the
following, “the contestant must be a Nigerian citizen, have the ability to
communicate in English, and have a minimum height of 5ft’6inches amongst other
criteria. The application forms are available in various states in the
federation so that all interested can apply”.

Auditions for successful 37 contestants who will represent the
36 states of Nigeria and FCT will take place on March 27-28, 2011. Thereafter,
successful contestants will be invited to a 13-day camp where they would
develop practical inexpensive community development projects and the viability
of the project, will be the basis for winning. The grand finale of the pageant
will hold May 1, 2011 at the Marquee of the Federal Palace Hotel and Casino,
Lagos.

Afterwards, the winner of Miss Progress Nigeria would spend her
tenure working on her ‘inexpensive community development project’.
