The Action Congress
of Nigeria (ACN) in Ondo State yesterday said there are plans by
mischief-makers to create confusion within the party ahead of the 2012
governorship election in the state.

The ACN in a
statement issued by its Director of Media and Publicity, Gbenga
Akinmoyo, said the party had put its poor showing in the general
elections in Ondo State aside to focus on the 2012 governorship
election in the state.

It would be
recalled that the ACN did not win a single seat in both the National
and House of Assembly elections recently conducted in the state.

Mr Akinmoyo said
the party was now determined and better-equipped to face the challenges
of winning the 2012 elections in the state.

“As the curtains
gradually lift on the race for the 2012 gubernatorial elections
scheduled to take place in Ondo State, the political intrigues have
commenced in earnest.

“We want to assure
our teeming supporters throughout Ondo State that the ACN as a party,
remains focused and we are dedicated towards the collective corporate
objective of bringing Ondo State within the realm of ACN-governed
states through the electoral process.”

He added that
those spreading the rumour that the party was engulfed in crisis in the
state were doing so to cause unnecessary division among its members.

The statement urged members of the party to remain united in order to dislodge the present government from power.
