The governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, yesterday described as “never do well” politicians involved in the low rating of the performance of his administration in the last four years, saying he would rely more on the accolades of the people of the state on the positive effects of his administration in the state.

Governor Sylva, who made this known yesterday in Yenagoa after inspecting the on-going Second Phase of the Gateway Road, the multi-purpose Craft and Skill Acquisition Centre, the Transparency Plaza, the State Library and the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) and state government built Skill Acquisition Centre in Asusama in Kolokuma/Opokuma council area, said no matter the height of accusation by the opposing politicians, they cannot accuse his administration of non-performance.

Governor Sylva said though the speed expected of a democratic government may have been slow in the state due to finances and political diversion within the ruling party, stressing that the claim of non performance by the politicians is sad and bringing politics into the development of the state is retrogressive and wicked.

“I did not listen but I hear that some political opponents said I have not done anything. It is very sad for these people to say that. It is sad for people to bring in politics to the issue of development; I have always said that people should take out development from politics. The development of our people should not be politicised. You can see what we are doing and in Bayelsa State, no one can accuse us of non-performance. I am not just scoring myself, but I know other people have scored me well.”

“Bayelsa people have scored me very high and it is unfortunate that some ‘never do well’ go out to say all sorts of things they don’t understand. I hear it was said by someone that has just been given National Honours. It was quiet unbecoming of someone with National Honours to say such things about his governor. At least, we have done very well and we are still trying,” he said.

On the on-going State Craft Centre project and partnership with Hyndrai, Governor Sylva noted that the project is near 96 per cent completion and is expected to turn the state to home of excellence, adding that the partnership between the state and Hyundrai is expected to yield good result in terms of supply of equipment.,
